How to Set Up MTN Internet Configuration On Mobile Phones, MiFi, and Router
For our devices to be able to connect to available networks, internet settings are necessary. Therefore, you must first activate it by loading the network’s GPRS, 3G, or 4G internet settings before you can access the internet on your mobile phone or other devices like modems and routers.
You can connect to the internet on your mobile device in one of two ways: automatically or manually.
The majority of mobile devices are often internet-ready and don’t necessarily need any network settings to work.
You might, however, occasionally need to activate your internet settings before using the internet.
Here are the several ways to configure MTN internet connections manually:
1. Setting Up Your MTN Internet through Text Message
To set up your MTN internet settings with the text messages, send ‘SETTINGS’ to “3888.”
The text message is free, so even though you don’t have up to ₦4 which is regularly charged for text messages it can still go through.
The appropriate MTN internet settings will be sent to you through notification.
To save the updated configuration settings, click “save.” However, ensure to use your MTN line to send the message.
2. Set Up Your MTN Internet Settings for MiFi, iOS, and Android
To carefully set up the network settings on your mobile by hand;
Choose “mobile network” under the settings tab on your smartphone (mobile data on some devices).
The following fields are editable on the page that will be displayed to you.
- Customer name.
- Make sure MTN WEB Port: appears in this field.
- Leave the Username empty,
- Leaving the password empty,
- On the Access point (APN) name Enter the URL web.gprs.mtnnigeria.net in the MTN APN field, then save the modified settings.
- Go to the settings menu on your smartphone.
- choose Network Settings.
- Select configuration.
The following configuration options should be entered into the necessary columns:
- MTN WAP is the account name.
- IP (Proxy) address: 10.199.212.2
- Port: 9201
- The web is the username
- The web is the password
- Web.gprs.mtnnigeria.net is the access point name (APN).
To save the configuration settings, click Save.
NOTE: Visit your local MTN Service Center or dial 180 if you can still not access the web after changing your network settings.

3. MTN WEB Settings For 3G, 3.5G, and GPRS
For modems and routers, the following internet settings can be used:
- IP address: 10.199.212.2 (This may not be required)
- Port: 8080 (This may alternatively not be required)
- Username: web
- Password: web
- Access Point name (APN): gprs.mtnnigeria.net
4. Internet settings for WAP, 3G, 3.5G, and GPRS on MTN
On Android devices and modems, the following settings should be utilized for MTN WAP:
- Account name: MTN GPRS
- IP address: 10.199.212.2
- Port: 9201
- Username: web
- Password: web
- Web.prs.mtnnigeria.net is the access point name (APN).
